Interview with Yvette Gonzalez-Nacer

If you have a preschooler then it’s very likely you have heard of Yvette Gonzalez-Nacer, also known as “Kiki,” from Nickelodeon’s musical television show The Fresh Beat Band. The Cuban actress started her career touring with Engelbert Humperdinck and has had numerous successful acting roles both on Broadway and on television. She plays three musical instruments (violin, piano and guitar) and speaks more than four different languages. Her critics have described her as “a performer of great charm and versatility, dramatically and musically.”

Alisha Prakash: Could you give our readers a little something about what the movie is about?

Meital Dohan

Meital Dohan is a tour de force. The Israeli-born actress received critical acclaim in her native country for her prestigious work both on stage and film. In 2000 she won the Israeli Theater Award for Most Promising Actress and two years later was nominated for an Ophir (the Academy Award in Israel) earning praise for her role in 'God's Sandbox.'

Her work in the U.S. has been just as captivating. Joining the Emmy Award-winning Showtime series Weeds in 2006 as the seductive rabbinical administrator Yael Hoffman, Meital received favorable reviews for her performance. She then collaborated with Soprano actor John Ventimiglia in the off-Broadway production of Stitching, and will soon debut on the zombie noir web series Woke Up Dead with Jon Heder.

Thomas Jane

Thomas Jane is an actor best known for the films 'The Punisher' and 'Deep Blue Sea,' and currently stars on the HBO dramatic comedy series 'Hung.' He is now directing. He directs and stars in his new thriller, 'Dark Country.' He spoke with TheCelebrityCafe's Marjorie Quinn about his new movie and some of the new projects he will be working on.

Marjorie Quinn: Dark Country is about a couple's honeymoon that takes an unexpected turn when they rescue a car crash survivor. What would you like the audience to take away from the film?

Thomas Jane: I made this movie on a dime. I wanted to prove that you 3D wasn't just for the blockbuster or the children's animated movie; 3D could be used in a dramatic way to tell a story. The DVD is in 2D so you will not take that away from the film.

Wayne Brady

Wayne Brady is best known for being a comic, but his real passion is in singing. He will release his debut album A Long Time Comingthis September, and features covers of some all-time favorites. TheCelebrityCafe.com's Dominick Miserandino spoke with Wayne about music and performing.


DM: I saw the track list for the album. How did you take so many styles and narrow it down?

WB: I went with the songs that I wanted to sing. I wish I had more of a scientific answer. We went with songs to go with change.
