Eyes Set To Kill

Upon first glance Eyes Set To Kill is an exercise in juxtapositions. When most people think of bands that are classified as screamo, or metalcore, the image is one that’s filled almost entirely with testosterone, but Eyes Set To Kill’s screamo sound has a decidedly female backbone with Alexia Rodriguez, who is a vocalist and plays the guitar and keyboards, and her sister Anissa, who plays the bass.

Michael Lardie, one of the original members, talked to TheCelebrityCafe.com's Julie Ruggirello about the band's current tour and some stories from the road, including getting a little rowdy on a plane and the tragedy at The Station nightclub fire in Rhode Island.

Julie Ruggirello: So your new CD has recently come out and you're on tour and everything. Do you want to give me a few details about what you've been doing lately? Because I'm sure you've been crazy with the tour and everything.

NELSON has sold over 4 million albums world wide and is still continuing to make music. TheCelebrityCafe's Stephanie DeLuca spoke with Gunnar Nelson about his upcoming projects.

Stephanie DeLuca: Nelson has a new album entitled 'Lightning Strikes Twice' coming out this fall. Can you tell me a little bit about the album?

Gunnar Nelson: I'm still recording in the studio right now. On our first record we had four original hits and had lots of melody…This time around, there are 12 songs and one for Japan because Japan always wants to be treated special.

SD: What inspired you and your brother to make this new album?

DM: It seems like you're doing intense promotion lately.

BA: I never used to do that many interviews back in the day. I think for 'Waking Up the Neigbours' we did one interview.

DM: What made you come out for this one then?

Post-grunge rock band 3 Doors Down has come a long way since coming together in Escatawpa, Miss. With their hit song "Kryptonite" on their debut album The Better Life in 2000, the band has sold more than 13 million albums in the United States and played over 300 concerts a year. This year, the band will release their fourth album, a self-titled effort that saw the launch of the video for "Citizen Soldier" on the NationalGuard's website.

TheCelebrityCafe's Dominick Miserandino spoke with frontman Brad Arnold about hectic touring, finding peace at home, and the band's latest video.

DM: I understand you're currently running around Orange County.

BA: Yeah we are.

DM: What are you doing in Orange County in particular?

BA: We're putting on a show out here .... The weather is really nice. It's about 80 degrees. We're loving it.

DM: You lucky bum.

Andy Summers

Once comprising one-third of one of the greatest rock bands of our time, Andy Summers has since found his own path in music. His music has evolved from his days with The Police to a hybrid, with strong jazz and classical elements.

Andy sat down to talk with TheCelebrityCafe.com about music, his new book, and redefining success after The Police. The Police parted ways in 1986, but were reunited for the 47th Annual Grammy Awards. Now, the band is announcing a 2007 tour and will also play the Live Earth concert this July.

Alien Ant Farm

I can remember sitting in my room days after school got out in 2001. I was talking to my brother and watching MTV, and a new video came on. It was a cover of Michael Jackson's "Smooth Criminal" by Alien Ant Farm.

I was hooked.

After the video ended, I grabbed my keys and headed to the record store to buy the Alien Ant Farm album.

Four years after "Smooth Criminal" Alien Ant Farm is set to release its third album, "Up In the Attic" July 18; however, the band hit several road bumps on the way.

In 2002 the band was involved in a bus accident in Spain. All members of the band were injured, but none worse than lead singer Dryden Mitchell. Mitchell fractured his C2 vertebra, the same injury Christopher Reeve suffered.

Who is Sammy Hagar and why do fans love this red headed rocker so much? Is Sammy Hagar that guy who was in Van Halen for a while, or a strange tequila maker from Los Cabo? At first, I admit, I didn't see how much there was to Sammy. What follows is a glimpse into the true nature of Sammy Hagar.

What stood out to me is how multidimensional the man is. At first, I was going to transcribe the entire 20,000-word interview, because a simple 1,000 words wouldn't do it justice.

Anthony Kiedis, famous for being the lead singer of the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, goes into depth on the instability and stability of the band, and life as a whole.

DM) To start the ball rolling, in your latest book, 'Scar Tissue,' you seem to really expose everything.

AK) It may seem like everything's exposed, but everything is not exposed. I exposed things that maybe people didn't expect me to expose. That was for a very intentional purpose-- not to have been shocking, but hopefully to have people relate to the human experience of our commonality.

Dick Clark is well known for American Bandstand and of course Dick Clark's New Years Eve. On November 14th, the American Music Awards come back and Dick Clark productions are once again making things happen. While everybody thinks of Dick in front of the camera, 90% of the time, he's behind the camera.

DM) How much work goes into the American Music Awards before the actual show date?

DC) We start on them about 6-7 months in advance, and we don't get heavily involved until 3-4 months before the air date. And then it's a frenzy thereafter.

DM) Is there a post-wrap up right after the show?

DC) We look at the tapes and make our critique of it immediately. We make our markings and check what we did wrong and what we hope to do to fix it.

DM) Are you putting in full 8-10 hour days on this project?

DC) Not right at this moment.
