Even though Shannon Price was legally not Gary Coleman’s wife, he trusted her to make decisions with his life.

According to E! News Price was allowed to make medical decisions for her ex-husband if he was “incapacitated and unable to do so,” like she did by deciding to remove him from life support last week.

“Mr. Coleman had completed an Advanced Health Care Directive that granted Shannon Price permission to make medical decisions on his behalf if he was unable to do so,” a statement to E! News by Utah Valley Regional Medical read.

According to ABC News, McCready was discovered in her mother’s home, which is located in North Fort Myers, Florida, after she took painkillers and muscle relaxants to treat a broken toe injury that she sustained on Sunday.
