The film will be distributed by Columbia Pictures after spending years in the development stage at Universal. Sandler is also set to produce the film with his company Happy Madison.

Frances Bay, who played Adam Sandler's elderly grandmother in Happy Gilmore, died Thursday at 92.

Bay, according to L.A. Times, started her acting career in the 1970s after spending years as a housewife. In her first movie role, Bay was featured in the film, Foul Play, starring Chevy Chase and Goldie Hawn. She went on to play in more than 50 movies and land roles in nearly 100 television shows.
