When you picture the golden years of your life, many things come to mind. Golf courses. Florida. Retirement communities. False teeth. What it doesn't bring to mind is playing beer pong, hosting a sketch comedy show and starring in your own sitcom, but that's exactly what Betty White has been up to in the year leading up to her big 90th birthday, which she celebrates today in serious style.

The cast of The Mary Tyler Moore Show (with a few exceptions) have announced that they will join in the celebration of an incredible life. Mary Tyler Moore, Ed Asner, Gavin McLeod and Valerie Harper have made plans to be on hand when a whole host of celebrities celebrate the life of Betty White.

NBC to celebrate Betty White's 90th birthday

NBC will celebrate Betty White’s 90th birthday on Jan. 16 (her birthday is Jan. 17) with a TV special.

White, who is currently starring in the sitcom, Hot in Cleveland, will be honored with the special Betty White’s 90th Birthday: A Tribute to America’s Golden Girl. The ceremony will also have a preview of her new series, Betty White’s Off Their Rockers.

That show features White and other senior citizens playing pranks on younger people.
