In the most recent wedding of the British royals, Zara Phillips, granddaughter of Queen Elizabeth II, wed England rugby captain Mike Tindall.

Gwendoline Christie lands role of Brienne in HBO’s ‘Game of Thrones’

The British actress will play the fan-favorite character in season 2 of the critically acclaimed series

Game of Thrones author George R. R. Martin announced late Thursday that British actress Gwendoline Christie has landed the role of Brienne in HBO’s adaptation of the epic fantasy novel series.

“This was another one of those cases where there was hardly any debate,” Martin wrote. “The day the first batch of auditions went up for the role, we looked at a dozen actresses who were reading for Brienne and one actress who WAS Brienne. Gwendoline gave a great reading, and her look was just perfect.”

British actress Anna Massey, who starred in such films as Michael Powell’s Peeping Tom and Alfred Hitchcock’s Frenzy, died of cancer over the weekend with her husband and son by her side at the age of 73.

Piers Morgan, host of the aptly-named Piers Morgan Tonight (having taken over interview duties for Larry King after his retirement) and judge on America’s Got Talent, has revealed that he and wife Celia Walden are due for a baby.

Walden is a novelist, critic, and columnist for the UK’s gossip paper Daily Telegraph, having previously written for the more scandal-oriented The Daily Mail. We can expect the bundle of joy in about five months – Walden is apparently four months along.

Singer-turned-fashion maven Lily Allen has added some more of her own styles to her boutique, Lucy in Disguise (a play on The Beatles’ “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds”). She previously revealed some original designs, which stayed true to the fun personal style she is known for, in 2007. Her Lily Loves line had six dresses and while not a full-fledged line, Allen’s use of bold, whimsical prints more than made up for the lack of quantity.
