‘The Big Bang Theory’ ties ‘American Idol’ in ratings again

Thursday night’s ratings and audience numbers looked similar to last Thursday’s, with The Big Bang Theory and American Idol both receiving the best rating in the key demographic and the audiences for NBC’s comedies continuing to shrink. Big Bang also repeated the same feat from last week, beating Idol in the 8-8:30 p.m. slot.

Wednesday’s American Idol continued the show’s decline in the ratings, but it was still enough to help Fox win the night in both audience numbers and ratings. Elsewhere, NBC’s Whitney and Are You There, Chelsea? had surprising gains against ABC’s sitcom repeats.

The King of Pop’s songs came alive Tuesday night as the cast of Glee belted out classic songs by Michael Jackson. The episode drew the most viewers to the show since October and a big boost in the key ratings demographic.

Fox wins Monday night ratings, despite dip from ‘Alcatraz’

Monday night was quiet during prime time for the networks, thanks to repeats all night for CBS, letting Fox take the night. Still, the Two and a Half Men repeat was the most watched show of the night. Gossip Girl also had a nice boost thanks to its 100th episode.

American Idol may have finally met its match and its name is CBS’ The Big Bang Theory. While Fox won the night in both overall audience and ratings, Big Bang actually had more viewers and a bigger key demographic rating in the 8 to 8:30 p.m. slot than Idol.

Fox wins Wednesday with strong ‘Touch’ preview, but ‘American Idol’ continues to slide

Despite a continuing free-fall from American Idol, Fox still pulled off a victory in the ratings on Wednesday night thanks to a strong showing by Touch, the new series starring Kiefer Sutherland. CBS aired the final CSI with star Marg Helgenberger, which gave the show a nice boost.
