Showtime's David Nevins said Season 8 of 'Dexter' is 'the likely endpoint'

Showtime’s Dexter could possibly only have two more seasons!

Network boss David Nevins revealed the possibility of the end drawing near at Showtime’s press tour on Thursday.

Nevins said season 8 of the show "is the likely endpoint" for Dexter, but said he was “open” to seasons beyond that, E! Online reports.

It’s the second to last episode of the season 3 of Dexter. This is where the story starts to come to a close and we see how things play out. First, Deb’s team finds Steve Dorsey (Doomsday Adam) dead on Holly’s boat. Deb remembers that Batista went to Steve’s house to question him and calls Quinn. Quinn rushes over in time to stop Travis from shooting Batista. Batista thanks him for saving his life but can no longer trust him as a partner.

Fans of the TV series, Dexter, have something to be happy about.

According to the Los Angeles Times, Showtime announced that it would renew the show for two more seasons on Friday. Rumors had been circulating on whether the series' central character, played by Michael C. Hall, would have a chance to return. Seasons 7 and 8 will now have 12 episodes each.

Showtime’s hit Dexter has officially been signed on to extend for at least two more seasons.
