Hollywood's plans for Costa Concordia

The recent Costa Concordia cruise ship disaster, which some are comparing to a modern day Titanic, is already going to be making its way to our television screens.

The Discovery Channel announced earlier today that they will be airing a special that will examine the cause of the disaster. The show, set to premier in spring, will also expose the real role that Captain Francesco Schettino had in the ships demise.

Virginia alcohol regulators not happy with portrayal of Discovery channel's 'Moonshiners'

Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control are unhappy with the Discovery Channel’s show Moonshiners, saying if they had known what it would entail, they wouldn’t have agreed to air it.

The show follows western Virginia residents who illegally brew their own moonshine as well as the local authorities’ efforts to stop them.

If you are a longtime fan of Discovery’s Mythbusters show, you know that hosts Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman like to blow stuff up. The show also advertises that it runs its tests under very controlled circumstances. However, a loose cannonball during filming on Tuesday ended up hitting a home in Dublin, CA.

Shark? Sharrrkkkk (Week, that is)!

This glorious week is what I wait for with almost more anticipation than Christmas.

It's Discovery Channel's Shark Week (cue in applause and whistles)! You know, that week where I spend each night on my couch alone watching stories about sharks who rip peoples arms off, and other stuff like that. Normal? Maybe not, but it's freakin' awesome.

My Mom always looks at me differently during Shark Week. She sees the mystified and wondrous look in my eye, and constantly questions my reasoning, her voice filled with contempt.

Discovery Channel Undergoes Executive Restructure

Eileen O'Neill has been brought in to restructure the Discovery Channel

According to Variety, the Discovery Channel is going through some major changes, as television executive Eileen O'Neill has taken the reigns.

O’Neil was responsible for making TLC a force, with successful shows like Jon and Kate Plus 8. She’s been president and general manager of TLC since 2008. Now, Discovery announced on Wednesday that they are carrying out an executive restructuring, which resulted in O'Neill being named group president for Discovery and TLC, the flagship channels of Discovery Communications in the U.S.

Michael Jackson fans have started a petition that reads, “We ask the directors of Discovery Channel programming to proceed with the outright cancellation of this indecent documentary, detrimental to both the person and his family and loved ones. UNITE against the ignominy!”

They are petitioning against Discovery Channel U.K.’s plan to air a documentary special, entitled Michael Jackson’s Autopsy: What Really Killed Michael Jackson, on Thursday, January 13.
