Don't Be Afraid of the Dark (2011)

Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark is Director Guilermo del Toro’s remake of the 1973 cult TV movie starring Kim Darby.

The difference between them is that, instead of a housewife that’s terrorized by the goblins lurking from the vents of an old mansion, it’s an emotionally disturbed little girl named Sally (Bailee Madison).

Sally is sent by her mother to live with her father, Alex (Guy Pearce), and his girlfriend, Kim (Katie Holmes). Alex and Kim have been renovating and staying at the Blackwood Manor estate. Kim tries to establish a relationship with Sally, but is rejected by her.

Serb group urges ban on Angelina Jolie's new film

Robert Kirchgassner

Serbs who were prisoners of war want Angelina Jolie’s new movie banned in their homeland.

The Bosnian Serb Association of Camp Prisoners, which is comprised of those held prisoner during the 1992-1995 Bosnia war, state that the film, In the Land of Blood and Honey, portrays their people as the only ones who committed rape during the conflict.

However, one Association member, Branislav Djukic, admitted that he has only seen the film’s trailer, but stands by his group’s claim.

Our Idiot Brother

Our Idiot Brother is a bargain of a film. You don’t get just one film that centers on Paul Rudd’s adult-child stoner, Ned Rockliffe, but three additional films in which Ned causes chaos in sisters’ lives.

Ned is released from prison after serving time for selling a stash of marijuana to a policeman. Ned’s girlfriend, Janet (Kathryn Hahn), kicks him off their farm and keeps his dog, Willie Nelson. He ends up living back at home with his eccentric mother, Illene (Shirley Knight).

After he leaves his mom is when the story breaks itself down.

Crazy, Stupid, Love

The first half of Crazy, Stupid, Love had the potential to become the first real grown-up romantic comedy that I’ve seen in years. All my hopes were dashed during its second half when it loses all of its initial appeal.

Cal (Steve Carell) finds out that his wife, Emily (Julianne Moore), wants a divorce, on the way back from a night out together. If that wasn’t bad enough, Emily also confesses that she has had an affair with her co-worker, David (Kevin Bacon).
