This past weekend at the box office was strong as two major new releases, Underworld: Awakening and Red Tails, battled for first place. Kate Beckinsale’s supernatural film with vampires and werewolves came out on top, though, beating the George Lucas-produced World War II drama.

Hollywood scares up prizes at Scream Awards

It’s that time of the year again - spider webs, ghosts and a massive variety of scary movies. This combination leads to Spike TV’s Scream Awards, which took place Saturday, October 15 at Universal Studios Hollywood’s Falls Lake.

Attendees included Anne Hathaway, Daniel Radcliffe, Nicolas Cage, George Lucas, Paul Reubens - better known as PeeWee Herman - and many more celebrities famous for their roles in thriller and horror films.

'Star Wars' sets Blu-ray sales record

The Star Wars blu-ray set, released last week, has set record sales.
The nine-disc set has already made $84 million worldwide in sales. In the U.S. alone, over half a million units have been sold.

“Our fan’s enthusiasm to celebrate Star Wars continues to amaze us,” said Kayleen Walters, senior director of marketing for Lucasfilm.

Spielberg won't change his films

Unlike his friend, George Lucas, director Steven Spielberg won’t be changing any of his films.

At a recent event Spielberg said he learned his lesson on that when he re-issued his classic movie E.T.-The Extra-Terrestrial(1982).
