Google is expanding their empire today, Nov. 16 by launching a music store, simply called Google Music. However, since the company did not secure deals with all four of the major labels, the announcement might be diminished, making it impossible for Google to really compete with iTunes.

Disney and YouTube join forces to produce original web series

The Walt Disney Company will team up with Google Inc. to create a series of original web videos as Disney prepares to relaunch its own site next year.

The move was first reported by The New York Times, which reports that the two will spend a combined $10 million to $15 million to produce the series of videos, which will be shared between Disney.com and YouTube on a special Disney channel.

Google Inc. announced that it will create at least 100 online video "channels" on YouTube in an effort to promote original content.

Reuters reports that some major names will have their own channels, such as rapper Jay-Z and comedians Ashton Kutcher and Amy Poehler. Pop icon Madonna and legendary basketball center Shaquille O'Neal will also have their own channels. The decision to create more original-content channels will create competition between YouTube and television networks.

YouTube will soon have more professional content rather than the amateur videos the site is known for.

Times reports that Google Inc. announced its plans on Friday to launch 100 video channels with original and high-quality programming featuring celebrities such as Ashton Kutcher and former NBA star Shaquille O’Neal. The move was in an effort to increase the time viewers spend on the video-sharing website and to attract more advertisers.

Google celebrates Mary Blair's 100th birthday

Most of us don't now who Mary Blair is, but we've all heard of Disney and we're also probably familiar with "It's a Small World."

The Christian Science Monitor reported Blair was responsible for the illustrations behind the theme park ride and several Disney movies including Cinderella, Alice in Wonderland and Peter Pan.

In honor of her 100th birthday, Google drew a non-animated doodle representative of her illustrations.

Google pays homage to Art Clokey, creator of Gumby (Video)

Art Clokey is the creator of everyone’s favorite claymation character, Gumby and his friend Pokey. In honor of what would have been his 90th birthday, Google pays homage to the man behind Gumby.

According to an obituary for Clokey, Gumby was produced at the University of Southern California in the 1950s. Gumby’s head was inspired by Clokey’s father’s cowlick and his body was designed after a gingerbread man, on the advice of his wife.
