‘The Hunger Games’ gets one-week IMAX run

Liongsate and the IMAX Corporation announced Thursday that the studio’s film adaptation of The Hunger Games will be released to IMAX theaters for a limited, one-week run.

In order for the film to get an IMAX release, Lionsgate and IMAX will create a digitally remastered version, according to The Hollywood Reporter. It will only be released in digital IMAX theaters across North America on March 23, the same day it reaches standard theaters.

Warner Bros.' The Dark Knight Rises does not hit theaters until July 20, but IMAX midnight screenings for the film have already begun to sell out. According to reports, tickets for July 19 midnight showings in IMAX theaters in Los Angeles, New York and San Francisco have already sold out.

The newest trailer for The Dark Knight Rises was seen on IMAX screens before the new Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol this weekend but on Monday the trailer hit the internet and fans all over the world got a better look at what Christopher Nolan is doing with this final film in the Batman series.

The trailer has been viewed on YouTube over two million times since yesterday.

USA Today reported a prologue to the movie will be played in 32 IMAX theaters across the country.

Imax To Distribute Four Paramount Films in 2011

Imax shares are rising, and so is the number of Paramount films that will hit the big-screen this year.

IMAX and Paramount Pictures agree to release four films on the giant-screen in 2011, which will be Paramount’s biggest commitment to the Imax format, reports The Wall Street Journal.

The movies will be Super 8, Transformers: Dark of the Moon, Mission: Impossible-Ghost Protocol and The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn.

“Consumer demand for the Imax experience has never been higher,” Paramount Vice Chairman Rob Moore said.

'Harry Potter Part 1' Will Not Be in 3-D

Warner Bros. releases a press release in regards to the completion of Part 1

Warner Bros. is facing a change of plans. The studio will no longer release Harry Potter Part 1 in 3D. The fantasy-adventure blockbuster had previously been reported to be released in 2D, IMAX, and 3D screens.

A statement released from Warner Bros. said that they have not completed the 3D version of the film, and didn't want to push the release date back because fans have long-awaited the release of the conclusion.

"Shrek Forever Ever" Opens at Number 1

Did not do as well as expected.

Shrek Forever Ever, the fourth of the series opened this past weekend. The movie debuted at number 1, but fell short of expectations. The film earned $71.3 million during its opening weekend, but was predicted to hit $100 million, according to industry predictions.

Anne Globe, the head of worldwide marketing for DreamWorks Animation, said, "We're obviously happy to be the No. 1 movie, which we anticipated. It's a little lower than we anticipated but it's still No. 4 among all animated openings of all time."
