Disney announces ‘The Avengers’ to be released in 3D, while previously untitled animated film gets a release date

Disney also changed the date for an untitled Marvel project

The Walt Disney company made announcements for two big upcoming projects. First, Joss Whedon’s The Avengers will be released in 3D and, secondly, a previously untitled animated project will be released in November 2013. In addition, another untitled Marvel project was announced to be released in April 2014.

The first trailer for Cabin in the Woods, the long-delayed horror film produced by Joss Whedon, finally debuted on the web Monday. The film was directed by Drew Goddard, who wrote Cloverfield, and Chris Hemsworth, who has since become a star with Thor.

The first theatrical trailer for Joss Whedon’s The Avengers was released today.

The film brings together several of Marvel’s biggest super heroes, including Iron Man, Thor and Captain America, to face Loki. Deadline reports that all of the actors who played those characters in their individual films will reprise their roles. Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Chris Evans as Captain America, Chris Hemsworth as Thor and Scarlett Johansson as the Black Widow have all returned.

‘Firefly’ to Return to Cable, Fans Launch Campaign to Help Nathan Fillion Buy Show

Dedicated fans have launched a Web site and Facebook campaign.

The Science Channel has acquired the rights to the sci-fi cult classic series, Firefly, and will play it in its entirety, and in its originally intended order, according to Entertainment Weekly.

The two hour pilot episode will run on March 6 at 8pm, followed by the first episode at 10pm EST. The series will continue every Sunday, with segments starring physicist Dr. Michio Kaku discussing the theoretical science behind concepts in the show.

Actress Cobie Smulders has emerged as the frontrunner to portray the character of Maria Hill in Walt Disney Pictures’ upcoming superhero film, The Avengers.

The How I Met Your Mother star is one of five actresses vying for the role of Nick Fury’s female sidekick. V’s Morena Baccarin, Friends with Benefits’ Jessica Lucas, and Scott Pilgrim vs. the World’s Mary Elizabeth Winstead have been confirmed as other candidates by Deadline.

Joss Whedon, creator of hit TV series Buffy The Vampire Slayer, has blasted Warner Bros.' decision to create a brand new Buffy film.

Whedon wrote the 1992 Buffy The Vampire Slayer movie starring Kirsty Swanson and Luke Perry, which was directed by Fran and Rubel Kasui and Kaz Kazui, who also owned the rights to the movie. Joss also wrote, produced, and directed the TV series.

However, Fran and Rubel Kasui and Kaz Kazui have now passed over the movie rights to Warner Bros., according to Deadline.com.

Monday, E! Online released the news that “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” is going to be brought back as a feature film. However, the film will be made without the involvement of Whedon.
