Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert have had a year jam-packed with epic highs, but they experienced tremendous loss on Tuesday.

The next single off of Miranda Lambert’s Four the Record will be her song, “Over You,” which was written to honor Blake Shelton’s brother who passed away.

The couple sat down and wrote about Shelton’s late brother, who Lambert had never had the chance to meet. Richie Shelton died in a car accident in 1990.

The 45th annual CMA awards took place on Wednesday evening. The best and brightest in the world of country music gathered at Nashville's Bridgestone Arena for the ceremony hosted by Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood.

A surprised Blake Shelton won the award for best male artist of the year and his equally surprised wife, Miranda Lambert, won for best female artist of the year. Lambert quipped to Shelton with award in hand, “Hunny, it’s going to be a good night tonight.”
