Most of the time you channel search, there is a good chance that a reality show pertaining to weight loss is on the air. Whether it’s MTV’s I Used to Be Fat or A&E’s Heavy, they are becoming more and more popular.

But are they really helping America understand the importance of good nutrition and actually losing weight?

Chilhood obesity linked to more common cold viruses

Not only has childhood obesity become a national crisis in the United States, but new studies prove that rise may contribute to the influx of common cold viruses.

Children who have naturally succumbed to the American casualty, are more than likely to become affected with the common cold than any other peer group.

In a researched case study involving 124 youths, there were 15 obese children who were given antibodies for the illness known as AD36 - a strain for the common cold. It also shows a significantly larger increase compared to four average-sized children.

For a long time, nutrition experts have argued how to market food to children. There has been an obesity epidemic growing in America for several years and now, about one-third of children and teens fall into that category.

Fatty Foods Can be as Addictive as Drugs

A new study reveals the long-suspected truth.

Health.com reports that scientists have released results of some new studies that prove that fattening foods can be as addictive as drugs. Using lab rats, the studies showed that foods high in calorie and fat have the same effect on the brain as drugs such as cocaine and heroin. The 40 day study followed three groups of lab rats and showed that fatty foods not only cause obesity, but changes in the brain as well.
