Comic-book fans and movie-goers alike were confused when Sony Pictures announced a Spider-Man reboot was in order just 5 years after Sam Raimi's box office record-breaking trilogy ended.

Buzz for Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man has been growing as production photos of stars Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone surfaced, and the power players behind the web-slinging hero's latest big screen venture recently announced that Garfield and company would be at this year's Comic-Con.

Abigail Spencer is off to see the wizard.

The relatively unknown actress, possibly best recognized from her role as school teacher Suzanne Farrell on AMC's Mad Men, has joined the cast of Sam Raimi's Oz, the Great and Powerful.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Spencer joins a cast that's already filled with pretty young things, including Mila Kunis, the newly Mrs. Daniel Craig a.k.a Rachel Weisz and Michelle Williams, who all play witches in a pre-Dorothy Oz.

Danny Elfman to make sweet music for 'The Hunger Games' and 'Oz'

With an impressive resume that boasts work on every hit movie from Batman to Chicago to last year's Alice in Wonderland , composer Danny Elfman is adding another sure-to-be-hit to his eclectic soundtrack compilation: The Hunger Games .

The award-winning Elfman will collaborate with Crazy Heart composer T. Bone Burnett to make music for the highly anticipated movie, according to The Daily Blam .

Michelle Williams cast as Glinda the Good Witch in 'Oz: The Great and Powerful'

Michelle Williams has won the coveted role of Glinda the Good Witch in Disney's Oz: The Great and Powerful. Williams will join James Franco as the titular wizard, Mila Kunis as Theodora the Witch of the West, and Rachel Weisz as Evanora, an evil witch.

Casting the role of Glinda was delayed due to differences in choices between director Sam Raimi and Disney. Raimi insisted on casting Hilary Swank, but the studio had been pushing for Williams, The Vulture reports.

The remake of 'The Shadow' gets a producer.

According to IGN Movies, Sam Raimi may be moving on from the Spider-Man franchise to direct another superhero's film adaptation. IESB.net has a script review up for The Shadow, and talk is that Sam Raimi is so enthusiastic about it that he wants to move from the producer position into director's chair.
