'Sopranos' actor sentenced for extortion

Anthony Borgese, best known for his role in the TV series, The Sopranos, was sentenced Wednesday to six months of house arrest for extortion.

He faced a sentence of three years behind bars after pleading guilty to enlisting Joseph Orlando, an associate of the Gambino crime family, to collect $5,000 for him. Orlando dispatched people who broke the jaw and ribs of the man the money came from. Borgese claimed that he did not know that someone would be brutalized.

Denise Borino-Quinn, most known for her role as a mafia wife on "The Sopranos," has died. She was 46.

Borino-Quinn had been battling liver cancer, according to the Farmer Funeral Home in Roseland, N.J., reports the Associated Press.

Creator of hit show taking another direction

Paramount Pictures has announced that David Chase, creator and producer of The Sopranos, will be directing his first feature film.

The film, produced by Paramount Vantage, will be about a coming of age story set in the suburban 60s. The film will use music as a foil for telling the protagonist's story. Paramount Pictures Chair and CEO Brad Grey and President of Paramount Film Group Adam Goodman confirmed the production of the film today.
