Syfy abruptly cancels 'Eureka'

The cancellation announcement comes shortly after the network confirmed a sixth season.

Syfy’s Eureka has been cancelled, making their fifth season the end of the show.

The network ordered six episodes for a sixth season, however, it looks like a sixth season will not commence after all.

The 13 episodes that the network ordered for the fifth season, which includes a holiday special, will be the last we see from the show.

'Eureka' cancelled

The Syfy series series Eureka has been cancelled after five seasons.

The series centers on a U.S. Marshall who becomes the sheriff of a fictional Oregon town, which was established 50 years ago by the U.S. government as a secret base.
The network had ordered six more episodes for a potential sixth and final season last week, but now Syfy has announced that plans for those six episodes have been scrapped. The 13-episode fifth season will now be the show’s last.

Why to watch 'Hollywood Treasure'

When I first heard of Hollywood Treasure on the Syfy network, I figured it would be another in a long line of pawn shop shows – which frankly I think are kind-of creepy considering some of the sketchy-looking stars on that variety of shows. However, I was pleasantly surprised to see how nostalgic the show makes me feel. Looking at some of the movie artifacts they have featured, I was reminded of shows and movies that I, or my little brother, watched as a kid.

SyFy film delves into video game storyline

The SyFy Channel, in conjunction with the video game publisher THQ, premiered a two-hour movie last night (June 4) called Red Faction: Origins. It takes place between the video games in the Red Faction series.

The movie tells the story between Red Faction: Guerilla (the third game) and Red Faction: Armageddon (the fifth game).

The script was written by Andrew Kreisberg (Fringe) and the film was directed by Michael Nankin.

SyFy has cancelled Caprica according to a press release issued by the network.

The second half of the first season began airing on October 5, four new episodes have aired with five first-run episodes left in the season.

The show will be pulled from the schedule as of next Tuesday, November 2 and the rest of the episodes will be rescheduled to air in the beginning of 2011.
