Message In A Word by Margaret A. Blincoe

Message in A Word is just that. Margaret takes one word and gives you the meaning and builds on how that affects you as a Child of God.

This book is so empowering and uplifting. It will make you want to dig deeper into the words you read about and grow more in your spirit.

I used it as a daily devotion and it has kept me going from day to day. If you need a short message before heading off to work, school, whatever, I highly recommend this book.

I

More like a travelogue than an account of spiritual discovery.

Think Jay Leno, alone and unrecognized, walking with pilgrims from all over the world.

Dharma Punx

A beautiful story about recovering from a destructive, adolescent lifestyle by finding inner peace and spirituality.

Dharma Punx,' by Noah Levine, tells the story of how one man's wild ride of rebellion eventually led to his self-realization and acceptance. That man is Levine himself. This nonfiction book is written completely as a memoir of the destructive lifestyle Levine used to live and the process he used to turn it around, specifically though the teachings of Buddha.

When the Nile Runs Red

This is both spiritual and fiction.

I won this book from the author and she wrote in front to expect an adventure. She was right. It is a book you cannot put down. You learn about the war in Sudan in 2005. You learn about the people of Sudan and how little they have and the disease and unclean conditions in the country.

Paul Farid is Arab and married Dr. Larson who works with the people. Paul Farid flies supplies and food in for FTW group in states. Both of their lives become in danger.

Ben Alier is the leader of the government soldiers. He is in love with Larson but she marries Paul.

How Can I Run a Tight Ship When I'm Surrounded by Loose Cannons?

Devotional, uplifting and encouraging book.

A Proverbs 31 woman is hard to become. None of us are perfect and Kathi points this out in this book. I felt like I was so close to Kathi while reading this book. It will cause you to laugh and feel uplifted, knowing we are all trying so hard to be all we can be, when we need to rest and get back to just trusting God. We can try so hard to be so perfect but it won't work. There will always be loose cannons around to show us we aren't perfect. I felt so uplifted reading this book and have lived so many moments like Kathi. I could relate in so many ways.

Anatomy of the Spirit

An answer to the Human Journey of Spiritual Awareness and Unity.

Caroline Myss takes the reader on a journey into the deepest recesses of the heart, leaving them there to confront their darkest fears and memories.

Combining the central beliefs of Christianity, Buddhism, and Hinduism, Myss reveals a spiritual realm that penetrates the common misconceptions of 'humanized' religious beliefs. She breaks down the barriers of doubt and fear that traditionally separate Monk from Buddhist, Muslim from Jew. Consequently, she illuminates the truth that all religions really center themselves on a singular code.

The 19th Wife

Two intermingled stories about the affects of polygamy in society and the mysterious powers of one's faith.

Ebershoff recounts the story of LDS prophet Brigham Young's 19th wife, Ann Eliza Young, with a collection of historical diary entries, news articles, and academic research papers. It shows how plural marriage started as well as how it shaped the future of the church. Ann Eliza, once a victim of polygamy, devoted her life to the fight against plural marriage, and in the process almost brought down the whole Mormon Church.

The Black Cloister

What to learn and how to beware of cults.

The front of this book will not give you a clue what you are going to read. If you have never been around cults and learned anything at all, this book will open your eyes to the deceit that is used to keep young people against their will. It will also cause you to want to intercede for runaways. They are being taken in by people who abuse them and use them. Who would have thought a cult could be as bad as young girls prostituting themselves on the streets. After reading this book, I wasn't sure which was worse.

Slightly Bad Girls of the Bible

This book can offer hope to some and make you question why to others?

I read this book hoping for inspiration. I learned a lot about women in the Bible and how God blessed flawed women. The book was moving along so well until I hit Leah and Rachel. There I had a lot of problems. I understand what Liz wrote is true but it makes me question why God blessed Leah instead of Rachel. It has left me with many questions and now I will have to dig into my Bible to look for answers I may have missed. But that can be a good thing too. Because I had been asking where were the blessing for women in the Bible. This does partially answer those questions.
