Eve To Adam begins their national tour this weekend

Artist:
Eve To Adam
Brush up on their latest release, 'Banquet for a Starving Dog.'

Right from the start, the album feels like it's a good ten years late from its intended time period. The singer manages to start out sounding like the lead singer of Savage Garden before reverting to more of a hard rock screaming voice, for the hooks and choruses. There seems to be equal parts angst and empathy within every track, making for a confusing listening experience. The overall instrumentation is solid throughout, however, much of the time the guitars and drums drown out the slurring vocals of lead singer Taki Sassaris.

Electric Sister creates shockwaves with new album, 'The Lost Art of Rock and Roll'

Artist:
Electric Sister

Hot on the heels (or should that be behind the back burner) of the return of glam rock come Electric Sister, the formidable five piece hailing from the shiny shores of San Francisco but sharing equal time in Oakland.

'Imperium' album review

Artist:
Bare Knuckle Conflict

Power anthems that run the gamut of emotions from love to loathing, each track on Bare Knuckle Conflict’s debut release can be loosely translated in their album title: Imperium. Wiki defines imperium as a Latin word that roughly translates into "power." According to the information site, in ancient Rome, imperium referred to the sovereignty of the state over the individual.

Kyng Review: 'Trampled Sun'

Artist:
Kyng
Able to Stand Among the Rest

The California-born rock band, Kyng, is releasing its first album, Trampled Sun, on September 27, 2011. The band mixes a grunge-tastic and familiar hard rock sound in the album, creating a platform for a new form of teenage angst.

Silhouette of Lies: CD Review

Artist:
AdaKaiN
Best new rock band ever?

Texas-born hard rock group AdaKaiN consists solely of four unbelievable human forms bursting with musical talent. The vocals, the guitar, drums, and bass are four components used in any other band. So what makes AdaKaiN different from any other aspiring rock ‘n roll group?

The fantastic four reminds me of a home-grown rock band that plays on Friday and Saturday nights in the homemade amphitheater behind the local bar, except there is one major difference. These guys are beyond good.

Mastodon unveils 'Spectrelight'

Artist:
Mastodon

Georgia sludge-metal pioneers Mastodon have unveiled the third single from their upcoming album The Hunter, “Spectrelight,” and it does not disappoint. Fans who were wary of the band’s more progressive leanings on 2009’s Crack the Skye will find reason to rejoice in the high-tempo, thrashing riffs this song is comprised of. It appears that Mastodon has created a more refined, if not slightly more predictable, take on the sound the band seemed to have already perfected on Leviathan and Blood Mountain.

Burn Halo rises from the ashes

Artist:
Burn Halo
Released June 28, 2011

Up from the Ashes is the second studio album from hard rock band Burn Halo.

The album title might refer to the struggle the band went through after Island/Def Jam opted not to release their first self-titled album. Luckily Burn Halo, which was founded in 2007 by lead singer James Hart, has a new album and a new label.

Burn Halo's sophomore album is an epitome of the band itself. Hart manages to convey genuine emotion without becoming emo. Hart's lyrics have a way of reaching you even if you're not a fan of the genre.

Inhumane

Artist:
Derek Jordan

I think my life was better off before listening to the Humanist EP by Derek Jordan. I hope that Derek Jordan is a nice guy and I wish him the best of luck in pursuing a music career, but this EP only proves the adage that there is a market of everything. Anything.

Make It a Double

Artist:
Mower

With their third album, "Make It a Double," the San Diego-based band Mower continues to release the adrenaline-pumping music of their first two albums, as well as offer a jazz and funk influence that may surprise dedicated fans.

Enlisting the help of producer Eddie Wohl, who has worked with such acclaimed bands as Anthrax and Ill Nino, the band knocks out a 15 track album, which technically acts as a split album. The first nine tracks feature songs from Mower that deliver a blend of punk, hard rock and metal known from their previous records.

Innocence & Instinct

Artist:
Red

This is Red's second album inspired by a car crash the band was involved in, when their van and trailer rolled over on a highway. From this tragedy, they produced a great album. Red has a great blend of vocals, hard rock, and instrumentals. The singer, Michael Barnes's, voice has an excellent sound even when he is screaming. The lyrics are deep and full of meaning and the emotions of each song are supported by Hayden Lamb on drums, Anthony Armstrong and Jasen Rauch on guitar, as well as Randy Armstrong on bass and piano. I love the piano and instrumentals throughout the album.
