'Live' Bullet: Classic American Rock and Roll

Artist:
Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band

‘Live’ Bullet, an album recorded at Cobo Hall in Detroit, Michigan by Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band, is a 5x Platinum album and the epitome of American rock and roll.

The album contains a mix of Seger’s successful 1960s tunes such as “Heavy Music” and “Ramblin’ Gamblin’ Man” along with newer classics like “Turn the Page.” After the album’s release in April 1976, tracks such as “Nutbush City Limits” (a remake of a Tina Turner song), “Travelin’ Man,” and “Beautiful Loser” dominated the rock radio stations of Detroit.

Counting Crows - 'August and Everything After: Live at Town Hall'

Artist:
Counting Crows

The Counting Crows felt the love in Baltimore when they made August and Everything After: Live at Town Hall. The album features a great set, and includes some of what lead singer Adam Duritz said to the audience in between songs, which tended to be pretty amusing. The crowd noise is only really audible before and after songs, which is unfortunately rare for a live album. The sound quality is excellent, nearly studio quality. Fans of Counting Crows will enjoy the compilation of great songs and the natural, emotional sound the live recordings offer.

Coldplay's 'Mylo Xyloto' album review

Artist:
Coldplay

Coldplay’s Chris Martin exhibited a whole lot of hubris when he made the statement that he does not believe “bands should keep going past the age of 33.” Now past that milestone, Chris Martin managed to retract just in time for Coldplay’s fifth studio album, Mylo Xyloto, pronounced "my-low zy-le-toe.” But those who actually listened to the album in full may come away from the project wishing that the lead singer to “one of the biggest bands in the world” would reconsider what he said.

Silversun Pickups ‘Seasick’ review

Artist:
Silversun Pickups

The Silversun Pickups have just released their new EP, Seasick. In it, the band keeps their strong alternative vibe and embraces their mature sound fully. Seasick takes the band in a different direction from songs like, “Panic Switch” and “Substitution.” These songs are left over from the Swoon sessions. Swoon was the third studio album Silversun Pickups released and they released that album back in 2010.

Holy Crow

Artist:
Bella Clava

The Toronto rock group Bella Clava released their first album, Holy Crow, in October.

For rock and roll fans, this album will be a treat. From the first track, "Conflict and Desire," the listener knows that they have a combination of classic rock, R & B and blues that will doubtlessly leave a positive mark on music history. The hard guitar sounds and the high vocal work of Caitlin Dacey, especially in the track, "Last Trip," make this music easy to enjoy.

Billy Burnette’s 'Rock N’ Roll With It'

Artist:
Billy Burnette

Billy Burnette’s latest CD, entitled Rock N’ Roll With It, has tracks that live up to the album’s title. Most of the tracks will make listeners want to grab the nearest person and do as the album’s title says while on a few of the tracks, Burnette slows it down just a touch while he goes on about heartbreak and loss.

Daughtry continues on the downward trend with ‘Break the Spell’

Artist:
Daughtry

Daughtry takes another step back with Break the Spell. This album has its good and bad songs, but there are not enough good songs to make it comparable to his previous albums, self titled and Leave This Town. To take it a step further, it is not good enough to call it a good album.
