The Boy from Oz: Hugh Jackman Channnels Peter Allen

Artist:
Peter Allen with Hugh Jackman
The Wonderkind of 1970s Super Ballads was from Down Under

Hugh Jackman is not the original boy from Australia who made good. That title belongs to the late singer and songwriter Peter Allen. Jackman brought Allen back to life in the Broadway musical The Boy from Oz which was based on the sensational biography of the man who wrote many hit songs in the 1970s. Allen was also the first husband of Liza Minnelli.

I can see why 'Human Again' didn't make it in original 'Beauty and the Beast' release

In the diamond edition of Beauty and the Beast, they included a new musical number called "Human Again." In that number, the enchanted castle objects sing about what it would be like for them to be human again if the spell is finally broken.

It takes place between the time the Beast saves Belle from the pack of wolves when she runs away, when their friendship is developing and the scene where Belle and the Beast dance in the ballroom together.

Shrek the Musical

Original Cast Recording

When a movie is super-popular, spawned at least one sequel and is fun for kids and adults, what else can you do with it? Make a Broadway musical out of it of course! Sometimes this venture pays off, sometimes it doesn't. But in the case of "Shrek the Musical," I'd say it does.

The Nightmare Before Christmas Soundtrack

Artist:
Danny Elfman

One doesn't normally think of The Nightmare Before Christmas as a Christmas movie, rather a Halloween movie, but the movie is a great alternative to the classic Christmas movies. The soundtrack was composed and written by Danny Elfman,

There is a wonderful frantic pace and feeling to the whole album. The opening track is great, something you wish were added to all soundtracks: spoken sections of the movie. "This is Halloween" is both joyous of the Halloween season, but shows the passion of each of the citizens.

Still I Rise

Artist:
Vox Fernina

Vox Fernina is the sound of many different voices combined together to get the sound of Still I Rise, the latest album. Most of the songs are peaceful and have a delightful twist of gospel, however, there is another route taken on this album as well. For example, the fifth track is a complete example of a broadway show. It's fun, interesting and not at all calming like the others before it.

Whether you're looking for funky, grab-your-attention lyrics or harmonized beauty, Vox Fernina can give it to the listener. So take a listener, it's definitely worth that.
