David Guetta 'Nothing But the Beat' Review

Artist:
David Guetta

David Guetta’s latest album, Nothing But the Beat, is a mix of fist-pumping tracks that will get your legs moving, heart pounding, and booty shaking. This album combines his talent for producing genius house music beats with otherwise average Top 40 songs. These hybrid tracks have created a new movement in music and have been rapidly ascending the charts.

Guetta, a French house DJ, first entered the music scene playing popular music in nightclubs throughout France. He promoted his club nights and eventually began to attract a significant following.

The Fame

Artist:
Lady Gaga

Pop and Techno just got a new transmission. Lady Gaga's first album, The Fame, emerges out from a sea of boring pop. The album is a high intensity party, mixing disco, techno, and a little bit of '80s New Wave. She combines her interesting look with a very fun sound. The whole album has the idea of the girl playing hard to get. Though alien-like beats and interesting vocals, Lady Gaga successfully sends out her transmission to earth.

There are a lot of tongue in cheek lyrics to accent the pulsating dance beat.

Growl

Artist:
Radioactive Man

Radioactive Man hails from the United Kingdom and with him he brings a bag full of warped and ludicrous sounds formulating techno beats on his album, Growl. It seems the bulk of the tracks are a mixture of awkward sounds jam packed together that resemble a helicopter spinning out of control in the moments before it ultimately crashes. The album is predominantly too slow to allow the raving mad lunatics to get down and boogie to.

Growl unleashes an onslaught of random sounds that presumably fall into the realm of techno, but are mainly instrumentals.

Simian Mobile Disco

Artist:
Fabriclive.41

Fabriclive.41's Simian Mobile Disco is definitely one of the more interesting albums I have listened to in a while. I enjoyed many tracks and thought some a little too odd for my personal taste. All of the tracks can be used for dancing and some even reminded me of video game soundtracks. The oddest and most interesting part to this album is when the vocals occasionally sound like a gospel or a choir of monks; it is an intriguing match with the electronic/techno beats. Is it bad? Is it good? It's both and that is the best answer I could provide.

The Remix Game

Artist:
Bitter:Sweet

The Remix Game, from Bitter:Sweet, is a savvy remix of the band's debut album, The Mating Game. The band had reinforcement from some of the best remix producers in the business such as Thievery Corporation and Fort Knox Five. The palpitating rhythms and beats that are compiled within this album will adhere to listeners of electronica, Emo, rock and even pop. Each song has its own style and all are incredibly danceable.

Deep

Artist:
Ror-Shak

An album filled with techno sounds and charged vocals, Ror-Shak's Deep has melodic tunes that are both upbeat and also somewhat despondent, depending on your outlook.

"Lisa's Song" has Lisa Shaw's hypnotic vocals along with guitar work from Craig Bevan, Andy Hawkins, Joe Lucey and Mariano Paniello. Shaw's voice has a shadowy ring to it that will haunt listeners long after the song ends. She emotes about what a certain someone does and doesn't do, with lines like, "It's not that you love, it's that you don't trust/It's not what you see, it's what you don't, what you don't see.

Boom Shinga Ling

Artist:
Oojami

Oojami's latest album, Boom Shinga Ling, is a huge burst of energy that grabs and puts the listener in a trance of flute playing and techno beats and rhythms. The record brings about an innovative and produces a more polished sound.

The album's title track says, "We've got to keep on skankin' [a form of dance]." And dance you will! Oojami paints a bright and vibrant picture that makes the listener want to dive into the colors and move. More specifically, move your stomach.

Love, Sex & Situation

Artist:
Deviants of Reality

An album full of innovative techno grooves, blended with rap and smooth talking lyrics describes Deviants of Reality's Love, Sex & Situation. "Intro/Love Line Interlude 1" has a mind-expanding flow to it as it starts off with a female voice echoing in a matter-of-fact tone saying, "When you need someone to tell you, it's gonna be alright, in the dark of night. I wanna love you, I wanna love you.

A Posteriori

Artist:
Enigma

Enigma's latest effort, A Posteriori, is a beguiling assortment of songs that will have Enigma fans delighted and maybe a little bit skeptical. "Eppur Si Muove," which translates to "And Yet It Does Move," does just that in a short breadth of time, but the length or lack thereof doesn't weaken its ability to reach a listener's soul. "Feel Me Heaven" could be a song in a movie about the future, with its space age appeal. "Dreaming of Andromeda" could be in the next James Bond flick with its kooky buildup. "Dancing With Mephisto" has electronica-like sounds.
