Liam Neeson vs. nature, 'The Grey' film review

Liam Neeson stars in the excellent survival film, 'The Grey.'

In 1993, Liam Neeson starred in Steven Spielberg’s moving World War II epic, Schindler’s List. Neeson portrayed one of the bravest characters in history, Oskar Schindler, a weapons manufacturer who hired Jews out of concentration camps to work in his weapons factory and create faulty weaponry that would be used by the Nazis on the front lines of the war. Nineteen years later, Liam Neeson’s career has taken a complete 180, having gone from dramatic leading man to action star.

'Immortals' review

For all the 300 fans out there who have been holding their breath for the next great gladiator epic that would rock their world and keep them on edge, it’s sad to say you will be waiting for a little longer.

'Centurion' directed by Neil Marshall

A gory tale of the Ninth Legion

The Roman invasion of Britain is depicted in this movie about the mysterious disappearance of the 9th Legion. Set in the early 2nd century, the film follows the mythical Roman army as it invades Britain and encounters the Pict tribe of Scotland. When the legion is ambushed, it loses in a gory guerrilla warfare with the Picts, leaving only a few survivors led by Centurion Quintas Dias (Michael Fassbender).

'Swordfish' directed by Dominic Sena

Hugh Jackman's Breakthrough Role As The Father Hero

The 2001 film Swordfish marked the beginning of Hugh Jackman’s career as an A-list actor. Audiences took notice of the handsome Australian actor who melted their hearts as the protective father Stanley who was desperate to regain access to his daughter Holly.

'Abduction' review

Getting carried away on a rainy afternoon!

I find the biggest downfall to critiquing a movie is… critiquing it, rather than just watching it. The movie starts off at an archetypal party at some teenager’s house. I think it’s funny when movies show a party at some upper middle class house, seeing as my high school days were spent in a small town where houses of that size were nonexistent. However, Abduction was filmed in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Nathan Harper’s (Taylor Lautner) neighborhood was the affluent suburb of Mount Lebanon, where there would have certainly been large houses.

Source Code: An action packed source of entertainment

'Source Code' is not only exciting but also smart.

[May contain spoilers]

Source Code successfully continues the what-if thriller trend that began last year with Inception.

Colter Stevens (Jake Gyllenhaal) is riding on a train with Christina Warren (Michelle Monaghan), only to discover that he’s literally not himself. His reflection in the bathroom mirror shows Christina’s co-worker, schoolteacher Sean Fentress. Before Colter figures out what’s going on, the train explodes.

The Man from Nowhere

The Man from Nowhere is a Korean action film that will easily leave your jaw dropped.

Korean actor Won Bin stars as Cha Tae-sik, a mysterious pawnshop owner who has secluded himself from the rest of the world after losing his pregnant wife in a brutal car accident.

Although Tae-sik tries to avoid human contact, he can’t seem to push himself away from Jeong So-mi, the child of a drug addict who lives upstairs.

When a drug trafficking organization kidnaps So-mi, Tae-sik begins a violent and dangerous journey to get his best friend back.

X-Men: First Class

Groovy. That’s the word a young Charles Xavier uses to describe the striking auburn hair-color mutation of the girl he’s trying to hook-up with.

It also works well in describing director Mathew Vaughn’s prequel/reboot of the X-Men franchise. Utilizing a strong backstory set in the oh-so-groovy ‘60s, X-Men: First Class is an intelligent blockbuster with heart, wit, and plenty of visually exciting mutant madness.
