Jewell album review

Artist:
Jewell

Jewell, also known as Jewell Caples, came out with an R&B album a few months ago, "Jewell." It is a nice blend of soothing, jazzy, and upbeat sounds and rhythms. Embedded in her lyrics and song titles is the facade of a strong and confident woman. As her track record has proven, she is quite the experienced artist.

DreamWorks Pictures’ ‘War Horse’ original soundtrack review

John Williams, a legend among living composers, has done it again.

Sony Masterworks has released the Original soundtrack to DreamWorks Pictures’ War Horse, a classical score of splendor and serenity. War Horse, directed by Steven Spielberg, is based on a young adult novel by the British author Michael Morpurgo, first published in the United Kingdom in 1982. The heroic journey is a story of loyalty, faith and persistence despite being set during the First World War. The story begins with the extraordinary friendship that forms between a horse named Joey and a young man named Albert, as Albert tames and trains him to work on his family’s farm.

'Marry the Night' Music Video Review

Artist:
Lady Gaga

The nearly 14-minute music video for “Marry the Night,” is complex, disturbing, abnormal, and twisted. More so, it is absolutely beautiful to watch.

The video is believed to be about Lady Gaga being dropped from her first record label and the downward spiral that then consumed her personal life and professional career. Stripped down to its core, it is a song about survival and making a comeback. The video follows that story closely, but in order to find the true meaning, viewers must first make their way through the convoluted reality that Lady Gaga has created.

HOW TO MAKE IT IN AMERICA: THE MIXTAPE VOLUME 2

Following last year's success of HOW TO MAKE IT IN AMERICA: THE MIXTAPE, HBO just dropped Volume 2 to celebrate the launch of the new season. Presented by Broke Mogul (Scott Vener, music supervisor for the show) and Mick Boogie, the mixtape is inspired by the show, which follows characters in their twenties, as they hustle their way through New York City to achieve the American Dream on their own terms.

Self-Titled EP from Jump into the Gospel

Jump into the Gospel

For a new twist on your music collection, download the self-titled EP from Jump into the Gospel.

This band is starting to catch fire in New York City, where they recorded their new album that released on February 8, 2011.

They’ve got an old school feel that displays a really up beat vibe. As I listened to the first track on the album, “Humvee Mansion,” I couldn’t help but hear some Modest Mouse shining through as well.

The classic style, mixed with the over-the-top happy music was all it took for me to be a fan.

Country Strong: Movie Review

Though many reviews of this film were not favorable, I actually found the film both touching and enjoyable.

From the previews, you can tell that this film centers on country singer Kelly Canter, a former star who spiraled out of control with an alcohol problem and had to enter rehab. Now, Kelly is taking her last shot at stardom as she comes out of rehab for three concerts to redeem herself to fans and critics.

Shakira’s The “Sun Comes Out” Tour Shinned on Florida Fans Saturday

Columbia’s hottest export charmed and mystified the Bank Atlantic Center

There’s something different about Shakira lately. The underlying sadness that seeped to the surface during interviews and performances is gone. She smiles more, seems more vibrant, actually happy.

The Colombian songstress known for her sensual belly dance moves, pronounced vibrato and anthems of love and love lost shined on a full house at Sunrise’s Bank Atlantic Center on Saturday.

Adequately named “The Sun Comes Out” Tour, the title not only fits in with the new album’s optimistic message, but with Shakira’s newfound mood as well.

Kurt Russell Was 'Elvis'. . . First

The Elvis biopic is alive.

Nowadays, it seems anyone and everyone with easy access to velcro sideburns and a karaoke machine are busy making livings (of a sort) out of playing at Elvis Aaron Presley.

After all, Mojo Nixon was right: Elvis Is Everywhere.

But retrospective credit is definitely due director John Carpenter and Dick Clark Productions for getting there fastest, and first: Even before the autopsy was cold, they were readying their Elvis for his home screen resurrection during prime time, February of 1979.

The First-Ever British Rockers Celebrate Their Fiftieth (!) Anniversary

For those still old enough to peg the launch of British Rock to the evening of February 9, 1964, when four young Liverpudlians appeared as if from nowhere on the stage of The Ed Sullivan Show, think of this:

Last year, a different U.K. band celebrated its fiftieth anniversary with a series of sold-out concerts at London’s mammoth O2 Arena.

Taking Woodstock

The tale of Woodstock, through the eyes of one young man.

If you're expecting a film that features the generational landmark that Woodstock was, you won't find it here. Set in 1969, "Taking Woodstock" takes us back to the summer of love in Bethel, New York. Rather than recounting the event itself, "Taking Woodstock" focuses on the true story of Elliot Tiber (Teichberg in the film), a soft spoken young man who paved the way for the Woodstock Festival to take place.
