Montreal

Janet and Donald visit the French just up north in Montreal.

Recently, on my first trip to Montreal, I had the distinct impression that I fell asleep on a plane leaving New York City and after an hour nap, I woke up in Paris! It felt a little surreal to be in another country and another culture in such a short period of time. Don and I arrived late on a Friday night, but the definitive French sights and sounds were so compelling that we could not sleep. We walked the city streets browsing the store windows, sipping coffee in an outdoor cafe and listening to the French conversations of the passersby.

Niagara Falls

A young, newlywedded man survives the ultimate challenge of a lifetime during a shopping excursion in Niagara Falls with his power-shopping wife and La Madre, his dear, sweet, Italian mother-in-law.

I must have been drunk. I don't drink often, but I must have been either drunk or feeling a bit too in love, because I actually agreed to go with my wife and my Italian mother-in-law to Niagara Falls for her birthday. It wasn't really my mother-in-law's birthday either, but since her birthday is on September 11th, we needed to find another day to celebrate. In my opinion, being alone with your mother-in-law for a weekend is no real reason to celebrate, but that's another story.

We grabbed the first flight out of JFK on Jet Blue, and 50 minutes later, we were to land in Buffalo.

Toronto

With a weekend in Toronto, our review focuses on the restaurants, the shopping.

For her 29th birthday my wife felt that it was the perfect time to go on a small shopping trip to Toronto, Canada. After I went to a conference in the great north and explained the joys and benefits of a favorable currency exchange, she decided the perfect present for herself would be to go shopping.

We flew to Toronto on Air Canada. I was very happy about the fact that the entire flight was less then an hour and a half door to door. By the time you get your complimentary bag of cashews the plane is already on its descent. This was shorter than most people commute to work!
