No Doubt - The Singles 1992-2003
- I'm not going to lie. To me, No Doubt always came across as a band front by a blonde woman. I really didn't give it much more thought. It seemed that Gwen Stefani was there for looks and for well, looking good.
In checking the "Greatest Hits", it almost seemed like a joke to me. I thought, "What hits could they have produced?" I mean, I've heard of them but always in the back of mind my while walking in clubs.
Clearly, I was an idiot on both accounts. The hits are everywhere. Every stupid club I've been to, every bar, No Doubt is playing. As for Gwen, all but one of these songs were co-written or written by her. She can look like a blonde but she writes like a poet. Each of the songs contains an explanation and a lyric sheet which gives you the chance to really think about what's going on in each one. It tells the story behind each song and of course there's the lyrics to match up with that story.
Nearly, one of the best CDs I've heard all year as it totally changed by philosopy (hence, one of the longest reviews that I've ever written).
