A Mighty Wind - Self Titled
- Music is the subject of Christopher Guest's new mockumentary and this film adds a memorable soundtrack that joins the ranks with Spinal Tap's "Smell the Glove." This time it's folk music and there are some wonderful songs on this album. All the songs are well written featuring the talents of actors Michael McKean, Harry Shearer, Guest, as well as Annette O'Toole, Eugene Levy and John Michael Higgins. The album contains songs by the groups featured, The Folksmen (McKean, Guest, Shearer), The New Main Street Singers and Mitch and Mickey (Levy and Catherine O'Hara). The folk tunes range from hilarious to heart warming. The album contains a funny Folksmen's cover of the Rolling Stones' "Start Me Up" which is not in the picture. This is one of the best soundtracks of the year containing mostly original songs.
