Self Titled
Carter Burwell's score album to the 2000 version ofHamlet is a subdued modern score and definately worthlistening to. The music consists of dark colors withan unusual small chamber ensemble providing theperfect underscore for this modern retelling ofShakespeare. This music could even underscore a stageproduction as Burwell uses a lot of nice lowinstrumental sounds and long string lines. Someelectronics are at a whisper under the dirge-likebassoon accompanied by light touches from the piano(Too Too Solid Flesh). Burwell also uses some niceguitar solos in the score (Darkroom). A solid albumall around with a nice mellow sound.
