Alamo -
- Carter Burwell gets his chance to write music for a big epic film for the new version of The Alamo. The composer reunites with last year's "The Rookie" director, John Lee Hancock. The result is an average score that has its moments, but some things just come across as flat. What's lacking in this score is a strong theme and I couldnt help think about the use of the pipes that are featured in "Braveheart." The Mexican Army music is scattered about and uses dark colors, but the score focuses more on the heroes of the Alamo. Dequello de Crocket is the music from when Crocket plays his violin solo over the Mexican tune that is played everytime just before blowing the cannons to scare the Texian rebels. El Bexareno is a highlight of the entire score and it would have been nice to have had more of this feel in other cues.
