At my first glance I admit I wanted to turn away. Wilson Phillips? Wasn't this a mistake? Last I heard they had broken up and one of the girls went from being rather large to skinny. It was almost as if even though it's been only a few years since their last album they were from a completely different time to me. I looked over the album and flipped it over with a feeling of curiosity at what I expected to be simply bubble gum pop.

Then it hit me. California was Wilson Phillips doing the songs that their parents used to do. The Mamas and the Papas' and the Beach Boys' music was all around them during their youth and here it was again. Now they had to face their own emotional journey to cover these incredibly influential tracks. I see them in an entirely different light, plus the covers are done brilliantly.
