Back in 20

It's been 20 years since Gary U.S. Bonds released his last album. What is most striking about this is the fact that 20 years before that was his first hit. Gary's actually had hits in the 60s, 70s and 80s. He skipped the 90s but he's going for the new century. Yes, the album is interesting, having Bruce Springsteen, Southside Johnny, Phoebe Snow and Dickey Betts. But what's more interesting is that Gary plays rock and roll the way it is meant to be played. No hyped rock. No alternative rock, jazz rock, pop rock or whatever, it's just rock. The kind of rock you'd love to hear in your local Jersey bar and the kind of rock that clearly has influenced Springsteen and Southside Johnny.
