The College Dropout

Which words does one use to describe this album? Let me see: There's complex, innovative, funny, honest, rhythmic, revolutionary, tragic, triumphant, spiritual, and on and on and on, but basically, it's a good one. The freshman album of this "College Dropout" is ridiculous in the sense that it has put him ahead of most of his peers who were inducted into the rap game prior to his arrival(Ooooh, that's gotta hurt). Ahead of the game is where he ought to be, whether some may like it or not, due to his humorous and refreshing approach to various issues, ranging from young African American's addiction to retail and reluctance to participate in general politics, to the mass media's hesitation in promoting spiritual music, to society's insecurities and all kinds of issues that we as human beings love to ignore.

This poet/producer/singer (yes, he did some of that on this album as well) has taken the hip hop world by storm, and I'm not even sure if they've seen the eye of this storm just yet. With hilarious skits, a limited amount of famous cameos (thank God) and just plain good music, songs like "Never Let Me Down" and "Jesus Walks" will take you to a higher place, while tracks like "The New Workout Plan" will make you slide chairs to the side so you can tear up the dance floor, and soulful ensembles such as "School Spirit" and "All Falls Down" will have your head nodding and also wondering where this Kanye West came from, and where you can get some more.
