Various - It Was 40 Years Ago Today: Tribute to the Beatles
- Okay, a Beatles tribute is easy to love. In this case, it’s 50 tracks of the Beatles, so there’s even more reason to love it. The tracks are innovative and unique takes on some of the most familiar Beatles tracks and that is also a great thing. The bad news is that out of 50 tracks, I barely recognized a handful of the artists. Back to the good news, you have some tracks like Cadence’s acappella "Drive My Car" which is outstanding. You have one of the best and most unique covers of "Fool on the Hill" by Rockbeach, and the Lackloves record "Hey! Bulldog" like it was written yesterday. And "Sie Liebt Dich" by the Trimatics is simply hysterical. People cover "She Loves You" but not as often as The Beatles' lesser known German version of the single.

Overall, this is an album that’s a fit for Beatles fans wanting to expand their collection but also people into indie artists looking to discover a bit more about other artists. Don’t buy this expecting to hear top-40 artists doing their covers, but it is a chance to get to know some new artists or artists you’ve not heard of before.
