Ciara
Goodies

In her debut album, R&B newcomer Ciara demonstrates a honey-coated voice and tons of sass. With the help of friends like Petey Pablo and Jazze Pha, the 18-year-old Atlanta native has put forth an album with dance appeal, mellowed out with some smooth R&B tracks.

The title track "Goodies" has been burning up the charts, and the equally danceable "1,2 Step" featuring Missy Elliot is just as solid. Both singles get people out of their seats at the club, but other songs on the disc showcase different aspects of the youngster's talents.

My favorite track is "The Title," which could easily be the third single. It's a great car song, the kind that makes you want to roll down the windows and turn the volume up. The beat is more mellow on this one, and it showcases Ciara's silky smooth vocals. "Oh," which features rapper Ludacris also has great hit potential. The beat on this one is strong, and has more of a street flavor.

Ciara demonstrates a level of maturity that is beyond her years, while keeping the vibe young and playful. "Pick up the Phone" talks about a girl who just can't seem to get her love interest to answer his phone, something all girls can relate to. "Next To You," written and produced by R.Kelly, gives off a high school crush kind of feel.

Ciara is already being hailed as the princess of crunk, and any song released as a single from "Goodies" should secure that title for her.
