Very Best of the Samples - The Samples
- It’s an odd mix, having a "Best of" album with a band that isn’t often heard on MTV. But after overcoming that slight confusion one reaches the conclusion that maybe this is a good thing. A "Best of" is simply that, the best tracks that somebody has done over their career. Is it more justified for Britney to release a "Best of" in only a handful of years simply because of her exposure? Considering that the Samples aren’t often on MTV, but they’ve sold a million copies of their catalogue, maybe it’s more justified for them.

Either way, since I wasn’t familiar with their work, I consider this a great introduction to an indie-pop-rock band with a sound similar to Big Head Todd and Dave Matthews. Tracks like "14th and Euclid" and a great cover of "Summertime" stand out as some of the best.
