Saul Williams
The first track starts off as a unique mix of rap over classical piano. This is the first hint that the album is a bit different. In fact, the entire album uses elements of various musical genres. At times, it pulls away from rap and leans towards singing and rap.
Either way, I don't normally go track-by-track, but I think the breakdown will give a better example.
1. Talk To Strangers - A mix of classical piano and rap
2. Grippo - Now a guitar infused pop/rock background
3. Telegram - Getting a little harder
4. Act III Scene 2 (Shakespeare) - Here comes some industrial influenced stuff
5. List Of Demands (Reparations) - A feeling of Moby throughout
6. African Student Movement - Just a straight drum beat
7. Black Stacey - Could very well be a Broadway influenced track
8. PG - Samba/Latino
9. Surrender ( A Second To Think) - Just straight Rock
10. Control Freak - Odd, alt-noise
11. Seaweed - Blue Man group is in the house
12. Notice Of Eviction - Just odd.
As you can see, he searched for a genre and used it. Overall, it's one of the most original rap albums that I've ever heard.
