Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason - Soundtrack
- There is some great news and a bit of bad news with this CD. I’ll get the bad news out of the way first. As with many soundtracks these days, some of the songs used in the movie, and which are included here, are ones taken from earlier recordings. This is my biggest disappointment with most such albums. On the other hand, nearly all of the songs are ones that I’d love to listen to more than once.
With that said, the great news is that this CD has a number of unique tracks: Mary J. Blige covering Elton John’s "Sorry Seems to Be the Hardest Word"; Sting and Annie Lenox re-recording a terrific version of Sting’s "We’ll Be Together"; and a few other standout songs.
While I love the songs by performers such as Kyle Minogue and The Darkness, which I have heard on other CDs, I would preferred it if all of the tracks had been recorded specially for this project, like the one by Sting. However, this is more of a personal gripe, and overall, this CD is a great mix of old songs and some great new ones.
