The one thing that stands out about this CD is Michael Castaldo's voice, which is so good that it far outshines the sometimes mediocre accompaniment. On a few tracks the keyboard strings don't even come close to the quality of the voice. That criticism over, there are some tracks which will simply blow you away.
Track 10 has a jazzed up version of "Con Te Partiro" that is incredible. It's a bit more fun and slightly less serious than his Track 1 version and will get you moving a lot more.
Track 3 has a version of "Ave Maria," which, admittedly, I've never heard performed by a male voice. Again, it's a beautiful version that I can easily see being played at weddings. His version of "Panis Angelicus" has powerful vocals which can bring you to tears.
All of the tracks are perfect for anybody into Italian music, especially if you're interested more in the voice. Vocally, Michael Castaldo is near the top. If you're into Bocelli, and other Italian vocalists you're going to simply fall for this. I'm not saying he's at the Bocelli level, but there are enough tracks that will give you the chills to make you quite happy.
Now I have to figure out when he's performing live.
