Slow Rewind
It's hard not to like a band named after a popular weatherman. Sam Champion's first full-length album, Slow Rewind, is proof the band's cleverness goes beyond their name. The lyrics are simple, but profound. "I'm giving every little thing back/except for the plastic revolver/that killed off the summer"(It's Getting Late). The band also shows that they have a sense of humor. On "Company Dance," Noah Chernin jokes that he can't play guitar or harmonica (he can, and he does). As a New York band, the ghosts of musicians from this great city must have influenced Sam Champion. Recorded with Brian Rosenworcel (the drummer from Guster), Slow Rewind will please fans of folk pop rock. However, this is not another "Guster," so put your prejudices aside and listen to Slow Rewind.
