Various Artists - This Bird Has Flown: 40th Anniversary Tribute to Rubber Soul
- How do you make a tribute to one of the greatest albums, from one the greatest bands of all time? The answer is- you have some of the best musician’s of today cover the songs. On This Bird Has Flown: 40th Anniversary of Rubber Soul, various artists come together to recreate this incredible album.
Many artists have covered The Beatles. The problem, as in the case with most attempts to cover classic rock, is that they try too hard to recreate the original version. Fortunately, this doesn’t happen on this album. The artists are true to The Beatles, while maintaining their own style. Mindy Smith performs a wonderful version of “The Word.” Dar Williams' powerful voice can be heard on her rendition of “You Won’t See Me.”
I was pleased with Ben Lee’s cover of “In My Life,”- one of my favorite songs.
