Jamie Oldaker - Mad Dogs & Okies
- Jamie Oldaker, respected drummer and music producer, has gathered a talented group of musicians to honor the musical heritage of Oklahoma. Mad Dogs & Okies features, among others, Eric Clapton, Peter Frampton, and Vince Gill. These artists were either Oklahoma-raised, or were influenced significantly by the state’s musical culture.
While many might associate Oklahoma with country, the state has influenced a variety of genres from blues, to folk, to rock. Songs on this album include the country, “Promises” and the blues, “Sympathy for a Train.” This diversity is what makes Mad Dogs & Okies a standout album.
The influence of Oklahoma on music might have gone unnoticed if Jamie Oldaker hadn’t made this album. Thanks to him, and the help of gifted musicians, Mad Dogs & Okies will give Oklahoma the recognition it deserves.
