For 35 years, Bonnie Raitt has influenced the music industry. Raitt has a style that can be characterized as both rock with elements of country and country with a rock sound. No matter how you look at it, her music has appealed to a wide audience for years. On Souls Alike, the respected singer/songwriter drops the songwriting credit to give a voice to other talents. Although she didn't write the songs, Bonnie Raitt's personality is present on this album. As producer, Raitt gives fans an album on her terms.

The songs on Souls Alike reflect the diversity in Raitt's music. There are the edgy beats of "God Was in the Water" and the funky sound of "Trinkets." There's the bluesy "Love on One Condition" and the country anthem "I Will Not Be Broken."
