The Exit - Home for an Island
- With all that is going on the world, it’s good to know that there are bands that are socially conscious. The Exit is one of those bands. Their new album, Home for an Island, speaks about the issues of the day and encourages us to think and not be content to accept the situation. “It seems like when we get something special/They buy it up and sell it back to the rebels/And I don’t like it any more then the next man, I just do what I can.” ((“Back to the Rebels”). However, The Exit doesn’t just sing about social commentary, Home for an Island also deals with more universal themes, such as love on “Don’t Push.” Aside from lyrical creativity, The Exit explores different musical ideas on this album. Home for an Island has elements of punk, pop, and reggae. The Exit’s sound seems to be influenced by bands like U2 and 311. The Exit’s use thoughtful lyrics and melodies ensure that they have a good future in music.
