The Black Halos - Alive Without Control
- For those who feel that punk has gone soft, and long for the days when this music was fighting against the mainstream, instead of being a part of it, there is hope in the form of The Black Halos. After more than four years, and some changes to their lineup, the Vancouver punk rockers are back with a vengeance. Their latest album, Alive Without Control is a lyrical and musical kiss-off too anyone who doubted them. A mixture of hardcore tracks, and more melodic tunes, this album shows that The Black Halos like their music their way and aren’t about to start following anyone’s rules. As lead vocalist Billy Hopeless proclaims on “Last Call at the Toothless Saloon,” “Don’t count me out/don’t call me history.”
