Easy Star All-Stars - Dub Side of the Moon
- East Star All-Stars has come out with an innovative album that features reggae label Easy Star covering Pink Floyd’s “Dark Side of the Moon.” The sequence Easy Star follows is the same, as well as Floyd’s distinctive sound. Does the reggae exactly mesh with the whimsical style of Floyd? Some say that the trippy dubs compliment the laid-back reggae star, but I am indifferent. I was never a huge Floyd fan, but I would imagine that the All-Stars’ attempt to mess with Pink Floyd’s psychedelic originals would upset those who are. I found one song, “Money,” humorous because instead of the cash register sound in the intro, there are coughing and bong-hit noises (something out of a Snoop song). I also found the use of saxophone in the song interesting. If you are open-minded, you will find that some good things that came out of this project.
