Bela Fleck - Crossing the Tracks
- I never thought the day would come when I sit down to listen to the sound of a banjo. Gone were my humorous impressions of banjo players I had from my past, and instead my head became filled with pleasantries. Listening to a sound I am not used to will always be a joyous event, at least for a day or two. I can imagine the annoyance I would feel of the banjo ringing in my ears if it hadn’t been produced correctly, and this is where Bela Fleck has done good.
This genre mixes Jazz with strong elements of Bluegrass, and so its ultimately named Jazzgrass. Originally completed in 1979, the raw and youthfulness of Fleck’s playing is all clear to see, and now it makes its appearance on CD.
Fleck and his banjo bring to the forefront a catchy, up beat set of musical notes... I can see myself sitting on my Southern porch watching the horse drawn cart roll by with this sound fitting in perfectly.
