Andrew Hill - Time Lines
- Composer Andrew Hill came out with his first jazz album in 1963, and the man still has “it.” Hill’s new album, “Time Lines” has all original songs with his quintet, featuring trumpeter Charles Tolliver, saxophonist and clarinetist Greg Tardy, bassist John Hebert and drummer Eric McPherson. The piano icon’s album is due out in February 2006, featuring eight new tracks that incorporate his talent with the other musicians. Hill is much better with the quintet then he is on his solos, which make him usually hard to appreciate. “Time Lines” is an album that shows some of Hill’s weaknesses, but I could tell his whole heart was put into this CD.
