Manning - One Small Step
- Manning’s seventh album One Small Step is a powerful album from a talented group of musicians. Guy Manning’s strong voice and guitar playing makes him a solid leader of the band. Unlike other prog rock albums, which lose some of music’s beauty by trying to be different, Manning understands the importance of melody. No harsh melodies on this album, the songs are all are beautiful and a pleasure to listen to. The lyrics are clever and insightful, and deal with subjects not often found in music. On the track, “No Hiding Place,” Manning sings about the Beslan children who were held hostage in a school gym. “Night Voices,” set in a dream, is a song about confronting your past.
